Deceptive Flexibility
You may have some students who are able to
move very far into poses without effort—maybe even further than
you! But they could be paying a very high cost for this deceptive flexibility.
Their spinal muscles work overtime and their hip ligaments are over-stretched
so they can move into those extreme angles. This ultimately causes an
instability in the hip joints and tremendous spinal compression, which
can lead to early hip replacement surgery, arthritis in the hips and/or
spine, and serious digestive problems. Successful completion of this course will maintain your Current Standing status for Continuing Education.
