Education Committee

This Committee, currently headed by Sally Broadhurst, is seeking sevites to fill the position of Education Committee Members. Please see the information below describing the positions and the committee. Education Committee Chairperson

  • 2 year commitment
  • Participate in monthly Board Meetings
  • Attend in-person annual meeting. (September 2 - 4, 2010)
  • Education Chairperson is responsible for covering own phone and travel expenses for meetings
  • Chair Education Committee meetings
  • Monthly time commitment 10-15 hours — time commitment can vary depending on project or time of year
  • Education Committee Chairperson, as with all Board Members, are asked to demonstrate their leadership through a minimum yearly dakshina contribution of $500

Education Committee Members

  • 2 year commitment
  • Participate in Education Committee conference calls
  • Support Education Chairperson with strategic policy and planning of Master Yoga Education
  • Monthly time commitment 5 hours — time commitment can vary depending on project or time of year
  • Committee members are responsible for covering own phone expenses
  • All Committee Members are requested to demonstrate their leadership through a minimum yearly dakshina contribution of $500

Education Committee

Purpose

  • Ensures appropriate education programs are created and delivered to not only establish but also to maintain the integrity of Svaroopa® yoga teachings. This empowers and supports graduates.

Membership

  • The Chairperson of this committee is appointed by the Board Chair. Committee members are selected by the committee chair, approved and invited to participate by the Board Chair. Membership on this committee will necessarily include individuals with a deep understanding of Svaroopa® yoga as well as a passion for and commitment to the Mission of MYF.

Board Focus Activities

  • Focus on strategic and long term planning activities with respect to programs.
  • Solicit and understand market trends and student and teacher demands in terms of education.
  • Review and approve an education program that promotes the furtherance of the goals of MYF and is consistent with the financial, personnel and infrastructure capabilities of the organization.
  • Establish sound policies that define the standards and expectations around the practice of Svaroopa® yoga and ensure that this integrity is maintained.
  • Monitor feedback on program execution and graduate teacher performance to ensure quality is being maintained and understand requirements from teachers and graduates of what they need for support.

Operational Focus Activities

  • Assist in program design and delivery to support staff and fulfill the Mission.
  • Provide mentorship to staff, teachers, graduates and students to continually support the quality and integrity of MYF programs.
