How can I support Swami Nirmalananda?

A personal response from Swami Nirmalananda (Rama)

Thank you for your interest in supporting me at this pivotal time. It touches me deeply, and I am happy to take you up on your offer, as well as offer you choices about what to do.

First and foremost, your personal practice of Svaroopa® yoga directly supports me. Each time you come to a program, I can tell that you are making progress by the way your body looks, by the way you breathe, by the questions you ask and the things you need help with. Your continued practice makes me able to offer you more. It is that "something more" that I will be focusing on, more and more, in my teaching. Your readiness to dive in at this deeper level makes a big difference to me. There are three ways to look at this in order to understand what I am trying to say:

1) Think of it this way - when I walk into a room of new yogis, their questions are about their neck and knee pain. I can answer these questions, but so can hundreds of other Svaroopa® yoga teachers. Do you want me teaching at this level? I feel that it is time for me to get out of the way and let them take over.

2) There is more going on in this hypothetical scenario. The needs and interests of those students necessitate that I meet them where they are - I dampen down my "yoga vibe" in order to serve them. I can do this, and have been doing it for years, but it impairs my ability to serve fully.

3) Lastly, that wonderful group of beginners is unable to support me. When I teach a group of deeper yogis or advanced teachers, the depth of their inner exploration contributes to the "yoga vibe" in the room, which supports me as well. This is also true in a more expanded way - your practices contribute to the "yoga vibe" in the world. The world certainly needs it. That upliftment of the world supports me along with everyone else!

Yet I still want to acknowledge that you are asking how to offer me a more personal type of support. There are some very concrete things I can ask of you right now.

1) Please be compassionate about Master Yoga's for February and March 2009. My India dates necessitated more changes in the schedule that I wanted, and I know it can create a hardship for you. Your understanding and support is very helpful in this regard, not only for me but for others who are affected by these date changes.

2) Please support Master Yoga's campaign, "Rebuilding From the Ashes." As Master Yoga creates the infrastructure it needs, it lessens the daily pressures on me, which makes me able to turn my focus where it needs to go next.

3) If you are interested in participating in the founding of our Svaroopa® Vidya Ashram (SVA), by being on the Board of Directors or becoming a resident or volunteer, please let me know at SVA@masteryoga.org. It will be two or three months before I can turn my attention to this important task, but I will need lots of help. I will respond as soon as I can.

4) If you would like to financially support SVA, you may make a tax-deductible donation to Master Yoga, who will hold your donation in reserve until the new not-for-profit organization has been founded. Click here

5) If you would like to send me a personal message, please do! Click here - swami@masteryoga.org.

Thank you again for your love and blessings!

Namaste,

Swami Nirmalananda
